What traveling is also like..

When you go abroad for any period of time there's always a lot of pressure. Holiday's are for ultimate relaxation, study abroad is for epic partying, going for a placement is for unlimited development and all of it is a shot at making memories to last a lifetime.
I agree wholeheartedly with all of these statements and if anyone would ask me I would 100% of the time totally recommend taking any opportunity you get to go and see as many places as you possibly can.
That being said, travelling isn't perfect and despite the countless of amazing moments I have already had I think it is important to be honest as well about the hard parts. I have written before about how important friends are and about how extraordinary it is to try out a different life for any period of time.
However, with all that positivity I feel like often there is not a lot of room to express the parts that are less fun. In my case, my entire class is abroad and therefore things can get almost competitive.
Who has the most interesting internship, the craziest story, the best friends or the uniquest destination?
It's all part of this feeling that we are supposed to be having the time of our lives and maybe, most of the time, most of us are in fact having the time of our lives. But what if you are that one person who is not that comfortable at work or who has yet to find people to hang out with from day to day or maybe you live somewhere that is simply not that interesting? Then what?
I think that it might be lonely. I feel lonely sometimes. Not most of the time, but sometimes. There are simply moments when it's all a bit too much. When everything is too different or too uncertain or when everyone is too unfamiliar and your surroundings way too strange.
I believe that it's important that everyone is able to say that maybe hasn't been the best experience so far, because you know what; It's really difficult sometimes. It can be really lonely and really scary and even though I am 99% of the time ecstatic I am also 1% of the time really overwhelmed. And that's okay.
Don't let others fool you into believing that you are the only one who is feeling like that sometimes. I am pretty sure that most people are at that place at one point or another.
Life is not perfect and neither is traveling.
