Reflection

I haven’t written anything in quite a long while and the reason is that I am a bit overwhelmed. Over the past couple of weeks I have been reading a lot about both the politics in my own country as well as the politics in the country I’m currently living as well as politics in general. I’m trying desperately to get a clear picture of what is going on and the truth is that it’s not going well.

Right now, there is so much going on that it is virtually impossible to be up to date. Even though I’m not even venturing outside of Europe and the USA I am still struggling to get a grasp on all the things that are currently happening. It is because of that that each time I come up with something that I want to write about it gets muddled in with all the other things that are happening and that are vitally important to realize.

The easy way out would be to not try anymore. I could say that the main thing is that we listen to each other and that we try to understand one another’s point of view: but that is no longer enough. The issue is that I refuse to voice an opinion without knowing absolutely all there is to know and I also refuse to not have an opinion because that’s not enough anymore. So, what to do next and where to go from there?

I desperately want to know more because I think it is important that we all know as much as we can. Only then can we have valuable conversations. It is important to listen to others but there’s also a lot of talking involved. I’m not even talking about opinions, I’m talking about facts. We can’t know all the facts, but if we do know some then when we engage in conversation we can share those and we can listen to the facts that someone else has, which is how our knowledge grows and with it our understanding of the world.

So, what exactly is my plan then? Well, my plan is to read as much as I can and to know as much as I, as an individual, am able to know within the time that I have and to share that with others in hope that in return they will share something with me and we will all be just a little bit closer to finding out the truth about our country and all the other countries around us.
