Stressed out!

I have only been back at uni for about 2.5 weeks now and already I feel like I’m in over my head. This might be partially due to the fact that I’ve missed all my classes last week, as I was partially ill and partially just lazy. In any case, I am falling behind already and feeling the pressure.

I know that a lot of people tell you that work is so much worse than studying and I can understand where they are coming from and I get that doing an internship is not exactly the same as a regular fulltime job. However, I have to emphasise that there’s also a lot of perks to not being a student anymore. Such as having set hours to do a job and having loads of routine and structure in your life.

Basically, that’s what I’m missing right now; structure. So, maybe a little bit caused by my desire to procrastinate, I have been attempting to get that structure back by making an extensive planning for each of my days. This includes writing down when to eat and go to bed as well as doing homework, house chores and undertaking social activities.

It’s not a miracle fix, but I have to say that it has been helping a lot. It prevents me from feeling out of control, useless and insanely indulgent to my lazy side. Instead, I push myself to follow each planning and to only make changes when I can substitute something for another equally or more useful activity.

Conclusion: Uni is stressful and studying is stressing me out. If you are like me, maybe you can try implementing a bit more planning into your life. It might just help you feel a bit more steady over time.
